Eres muy trabajador? Pues cuidado… (1)

Pon un vago en tu empresa, pero de los listos
Este post es una síntesis de un divertido libro que, si bien no pasará a la historia de la gestión de proyectos, se lee fácil y cómo bien dice su autor, está escrito para personas vagas como él (y, cada vez más, como yo). Se titula “The Lazy Project manager” (www.thelazyprojectmanager.com)
Al igual que el autor, no me considero una persona vaga, vaga pero tengo tantas otras cosas que hacer en la vida…. Pienso que hay vida, mucha vida, más allá de las cuatro paredes del despacho.
Por eso, es importante, trabajar lo justo, pero que aquello en que trabaje sea del máximo valor (y se haga con el menor esfuerzo-tiempo posible).
De esta manera se puede hacer la famosa y renombrada conciliación de la vida familiar y laboral (si quieres, ¡claro¡ Si tu trabajo es un refugio frente a tu casa y alargas la jornada para no tener que pegar golpe en casa, deja de leer esto, no sigas leyendo¡).
Requiere proponérselo y, según en qué entornos, no es fácil porque lo que se llevan son los “supertrabajadores” que van hablando por teléfono por el pinganillo por todo el pasillo hasta el baño. Siempre me pregunto al verlos, ¿seguirán consultando la blackberry tras cerrar la puerta…?.
Por lo tanto hay que enfocar el trabajo hacia tareas de alto valor añadido para que así, proyectos y carrera profesional vayan razonablemente bien pero dejándonos tiempo para leer, escribir, ir al cine, viajar, Estar (con mayúscula) con la familia, no hacer nada,…
Por eso, vamos a proponernos ser project manager vagos. Sin decírselo así a la empresa, claro, quizás no lo entiendan… Empezar a contarles conceptos como la pereza productiva pueden ser malinterpretados y no está el horno para bollos…
El famoso principio de Pareto, casi tan nombrado como la pirámide de Maslow en cualquier clase de gestión de proyectos que se precie (e igualmente exitoso si lo sacas a colación ante los cuñados en la cena de Navidad), viene a decirnos que la mayoría de los resultados en cualquier situación son determinados por un número reducido de causas.
De esta manera, un 20% de las unidades del proyecto concentran el 80% del presupuesto” o «el 20% de los clientes se lleva el 80% del volumen de ventas”.
O “el 80% de las cosas a las que cada día dedico mi tiempo no aportan casi nada (el 20%) ni a la empresa ni a mí mientras que solamente dedico el 20% de mi tiempo a las cosas que realmente son importantes para la empresa y para mí”. ¡qué duro!, ¿no?
Este principio de Pareto debe ser la regla de oro de un project manager vago:
¡¡Céntrate en el 20% de las tareas que realmente aportan valor a la empresa y te hacen crecer profesionalmente a ti!!”
¿Y el 80% restante? Delégalas o no las hagas. O hazlas cuando ya estés cansado. O haz creer que las haces… nadie se enterará.
Porque es ese 20% el que producen el 80% de tus Resultados (con mayúscula).
Por lo tanto, identifico las tareas importantes y me centro en ellas y las tengo en cuenta al planificar la semana. Sí, ya lo sé, será difícil defender tu planning ante la llegada del bombero enciende-fuegos del pinganillo cuando venga del servicio,… Pero, al menos, tendrás algo que defender.
